The Guinness fire station is inside the brewery but its nothing to do with DFB. They are private contractors trained to respond to fires and chemical spills etc on site. Think they are trained as security officers too.

Ah, thanks for the clarification about the paramedics! Despite multiple jokes about Guinness being the same color as the dirty Liffey water of its origin, I was told that the actual source is the Wicklow Mountains located south of Dublin. Did the brewery employees lie to me? Those bastards... I suppose drunk Americans will believe anything :-)

Eerrrm !....."paramedic" might be a bit misleading. A "Paramedic" in Ireland would be slightly more advanced than an EMT-B here in the States (they can give some IM meds. etc). I think the idea was to do away with the "Emergency Medical Technician" title as it confused the general public and make most EMS workers either a Paramedic or an Advanced Paramedic, (which would be comparable to a Paramedic here in the States).

By the way, the water used to make Guinness, comes from the River Liffey...yeah, the "filthy" one described in the article.

Firefighter/Medic in the Midwest.

Look at that... Truck guys can go from lying in their bunk to sitting on their ladder. I think there is a lot we can learn from those Europeans..hahaha

Remember, Truck guys are simply fireman helpers!

Fascinating comparison to US. Interesting that they're all paramedics, too. Great pictures! So how's the Guinness? :)
